Visiting Fellow Talk: Digital Trade and Regional Integration in Central Asia
On December 2, 2024, Ms. Zalina Enikeeva, a Research Fellow at the University of Central Asia’s Institute of Public Policy and Administration, delivered an insightful presentation at the CAREC Institute. As part of her Visiting Research Fellowship, Ms. Enikeeva discussed her study on digital trade between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan with Chinese marketplaces, focusing on trade trends, transport routes, and state-led initiatives aimed at enhancing regional cooperation.
Ms. Enikeeva’s research revealed strategies employed by Kyrgyz and Kazakh companies in trading with Chinese partners, identifying opportunities for economic growth and interregional development. She also addressed the challenges these nations face, such as logistical hurdles and regulatory complexities, emphasizing the transformative potential of digital platforms and cross-border partnerships.
