On June 21, Dr. Huang Jingjing, Deputy Director One of the CAREC Institute, attended the online talks with Shihezi University in Urumqi.

The CAREC Institute, represented by Chief Economist Dr. Hans Holzhacker, contributed to the Policy Dialogue “Building Forward Fairer: Economic Policies for an Inclusive Recovery and Development” hosted by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific on 9 June 2022.

The CAREC Institute participated in the International Expert Roundtable Discussions on "Strengthening Regional Cooperation on Skills Development under the CAREC Program: Key Achievements, Challenges, and Opportunities for Cooperation" hosted by the Asian Development Bank on 30–31 May 2022 in Tbilisi, Georgia.

On May 26, Dr. Iskandar Abdullaev, Deputy Director 2 of the CAREC Institute, took part in the Energy Talks webinar “Central Asian Solar Chapter: Embracing Investment Opportunities in the Emerging Market.”

The Deputy Director Two of the CAREC Institute Dr. Iskandar Abdullaev made a presentation in the Third International Ratings Forum, organized by Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan on May 7, 2022.

Mr. Syed Shakeel Shah, Director of the CAREC Institute, and Dr. Hans Holzhacker, Chief Economist, attended the Consultations Meeting on CAREC Program Effectiveness and 2022 Deliverables, which was held in Almaty from 4 to 6 May 2022.

On the afternoon of 28 April 2022, the CAREC Institute collaborated with the International Finance Forum (IFF) to organize a webinar on "Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations Between China and the Five Central Asian Countries".

The second meeting of the CAREC Institute’s Financial Sustainability Working Group was held on April 25, 2022.

The Deputy Director Two of the CAREC Institute Dr. Iskandar Abdullaev moderated a session of the Regional Workshop on FTA Negotiation Capacity and Regional FTA Lessons in CAREC, organized by the ADB-funded CAREC Program on 19 April 2022.

Dr. Abdullaev noted about CAREC Institute strategic actions which match five priorities of the Vienna Programme of Action (VPoA), and highlighted the joint progress made by CAREC Program member states in implementing VPoA’s actions.

n 20 January 2022, the CAREC Institute and the Agricultural Development Bank of China (ADBC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Beijing.

The CAREC Institute has been granted the United Nations (UN) observer status at the 45th plenary meeting of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly on 15 December 2020.

On 10 December 2020, our Chief Economist Dr. Hans Holzhacker was invited to present at a webinar titled “Post COVID-19: The Changing Structure of National Economies in Eurasia and Caucasus - Building Back Better” organized by Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC).

On 9 December 2020, the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) held a roundtable titled Innovative Cities and Greater Bay Area Green Development.

On 4 December 2020, the CAREC Institute Chief Economist Dr. Hans Holzhacker participated in a conference organized by the Turan University Almaty where topics of localization of innovative potentials, education as a tool for global change, formation of a new educational platforms for young specialists, myths and realities of forming learning ecosystems, design of contracts for educational programs, and the future of the labor market were discussed.

On 2 December 2020, the CAREC Institute, represented by Director Syed Shakeel Shah, participated in the first CAREC Development Partners’ Forum organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to discuss engagement of development partners in CAREC and coordination of regional development efforts.
