Empowering Women for a Sustainable Future: Research Presented at the Asia Clean Energy Forum 2024
The Asia Clean Energy Forum 2024, held from June 3-7, showcased research findings by Dr. Hans Holzhacker, Chief Economist of the CAREC Institute, and Dr. Dina Azhgaliyeva, Senior Research Fellow at the ADB Institute. The presentation eluded the significance of empowering women for the clean energy transition and the advancement of sustainable energy practices.
The presentation, derived from the CAREC Institute’s research project “Household Access to Energy in the Fergana Valley,” revealed a pivotal finding: female household heads who are employed tend to prioritize family health and environmental factors when choosing fuels for heating and cooking significantly more than unemployed women or male household heads.
The research findings presented by Dr. Hans Holzhacker and Dr. Dina Azhgaliyeva offer valuable contributions to the ongoing discourse on gender equality and sustainable energy solutions in the CAREC region. The joint research of the CAREC Institute and the ADB Institute not only emphasizes the importance of gender empowerment but also paves the way for a more inclusive and environmentally conscious future.
