CAREC Institute Participation in the People’s Congress of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region: Fostering International Collaboration
The CAREC Institute, along with representatives from foreign diplomatic missions, were invited to attend the Second Session of the 13th Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and the Second Session of the 14th Congress of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on January-29-30, 2024. The diplomatic participation in these two events marks a significant stride towards fostering international collaboration.
The two events provided a comprehensive review of the accomplishments in 2023, outlined ambitious programs for 2024, and conveyed a robust commitment of CI’s hosting Province, to global engagement, particularly in strengthening pragmatic cooperation with Central Asian countries. Notable Initiatives include improving the operational efficiency of the China-Europe Express by establishing a new distribution center, new trade logistics, and cross-border business. The new pilot free trade zone in Urumqi, Kashi, and Horgos, will promote investment and trade facilitation, financial innovation, and cross-border value chains. Initiatives on fostering international scientific and technological cooperation, improving the exchange of customs data and information with neighboring countries, developing smart ports, promoting cross-border e-commerce, and building more overseas warehouses, among many others, will further boost economic cooperation in the Central Asian region.
The foreign representatives also visited the Urumqi City Planning Museum, the Tianshan District Old Town Upgrading Museum, and local communities.
