CAREC Institute Holds Inception Meeting for Annual Development Report on Green Financing
The CAREC Institute convened an Inception Meeting to discuss the framework and direction of the CAREC Institute Annual Development Report (ADR): Green Financing Pathways and Navigating Future Challenges. This internal meeting brought together the CAREC team and consultants to refine the indicative outline, analytical framework, and data collection strategy for the ADR.
Dr. Kuat Akizhanov, Deputy Director Two, and Dr. Ghulam Samad, Chief of Research Division, opened the session. They emphasized the importance of the ADR in shaping regional discussions on green finance, and highlighted the need for a structured approach to assess financial market readiness and investment mechanisms to support sustainable development.
Dr. Asif Razzaq, Senior Research Specialist, provided an overview of the key objectives of the report, which include examining the green finance landscape in the CAREC region, assessing the readiness of financial markets and institutions to support sustainable investment and climate-focused initiatives, exploring financing mechanisms across key sectors like energy, water, and transport, and developing strategic pathways for an integrated green finance system to foster sustainability and regional cooperation.
The meeting facilitated an in-depth discussion on the analytical framework of the ADR to align with regional market conditions. Consultants were briefed on their roles in data collection, including gathering regulatory and policy data, financial instruments, and sector-specific data on energy, water, and transport financing, focusing on sustainability-driven investment models.
As a flagship initiative, the ADR aims to provide policy recommendations and insights to strengthen green financial markets across the CAREC region. The CAREC Institute and its consultants will continue to collaborate on refining data-driven assessments to address the region’s financing challenges.
