CAREC Institute Holds Discussion with World Bank Beijing Office to Strengthen Regional Collaboration
On March 31, Mr. Charymuhammet Shallyyev, Director of the CAREC Institute, held a productive meeting with Ms. Mara Warwick, Country Director for China and Mongolia, and Director for Korea during a visit to the World Bank Beijing Office.
Mr. Shallyyev introduced the Institute’s role in delivering customized knowledge products and services to support regional cooperation and integration, and exchanged views on the evolving economic priorities and knowledge demands of CAREC member countries. He proposed deepening ties with the World Bank through joint research initiatives, capacity building activities, knowledge-sharing platforms, and human resource development. A key focus was the potential to leverage China’s reform and development expertise, in partnership with the World Bank, to address shared challenges among CAREC countries.
Ms. Warwick welcomed deeper collaboration with the CAREC Institute, in line with the World Bank’s strategic goals. She stressed the importance of identifying regional needs and effectively integrating China’s practices and the World Bank’s global knowledge. She also expressed enthusiasm for exploring synergies under the newly launched China-World Bank Global Ecosystem Transformation Knowledge Center initiative, which seeks to foster innovative solutions for sustainable development. Ms. Warwick affirmed Beijing office’s commitment to facilitating connections between the CAREC Institute and other World Bank offices to increase impact.
Both parties agreed to coordinate activities further and ensure measurable outcomes.
