CAREC Institute Contributes to Workshop on Sustainable Transport Innovations to Enhance Low-Carbon Mobility in the PRC
The workshop on “Sustainable Transport Innovations to Advance PRC’s Low-Carbon Mobility and Regional Connectivity” was held on 18 March 2025 in Beijing. Organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the event marked a key milestone in the development of the new Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) for the People’s Republic of China (PRC) for the period 2026–2030. The workshop focused on identifying critical challenges and opportunities in sustainable transport, with an emphasis on innovative solutions that align with ADB’s overarching goals of decarbonization and smart mobility.
The CAREC Institute played an integral role in this initiative, facilitating discussions on regional cooperation and the midterm review of the CAREC Transport Strategy 2030. Dr. Ghulam Samad, Chief of the Research Division at the CAREC Institute, brought his expertise to the event by moderating key sessions and engaging participants in insightful discussions on corridor performance measurement and trade transport studies. His contributions highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing the challenges of low-carbon mobility and improving regional connectivity.
The workshop not only served as a platform for knowledge exchange but also reinforced the commitment of ADB and its partners to catalyze transformative impacts in the transport sector across the region. The insights gathered from this event are expected to inform future strategies and initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable development goals in the PRC and beyond.
