CAREC Institute Contributes to Asia-Europe New Energy International Cooperation Forum
On October 23, 2024, the Asia-Europe New Energy International Cooperation Forum took place in Urumqi, Xinjiang, the People’s Republic of China. In light of global changes, international cooperation between Asia and Europe in the field of new energy has become increasingly important, positioning it as a key area for Chinese enterprises seeking a broader international presence. The event was co-hosted by the China New Energy International Alliance, Tian Shun Smart Energy, and the China Bridge New Energy Institute, bringing together representatives from business alliances, research institutions, and government agencies.
The forum featured an opening address, keynote speeches, and thematic panel discussions centered on renewable energy development trends and opportunities for international collaboration. Key areas of discussion included cross-border energy base development, power transmission, hydrogen energy, green finance, cross-border logistics, and ESG compliance within the new energy sector. The discussions underscored the importance of fostering collaboration, ensuring sustainability, and addressing geopolitical challenges in advancing renewable energy, particularly within Eurasia and Central Asia.
The key objective of this forum was to facilitate opportunities for enterprises to engage with Xinjiang’s growing new energy sector and to support local companies in expanding their reach into Central Asian and European regions.
Dr. Huang Jingjing, Deputy Director One of the CAREC Institute, delivered an opening speech highlighting the importance of international collaboration in navigating the global energy transition. She emphasized Xinjiang’s role as a crucial link between Central Asia and Europe due to its rich natural resources and strategic location. According to Dr. Huang, the CAREC Institute can provide key contributions to Euro-Asian new energy cooperation through expert policy research, knowledge sharing, and capacity building initiatives.
Dr. Huang further noted that the CAREC Institute’s efforts to foster regional cooperation will play a significant role in supporting the transition to green energy solutions. By promoting sustainable development and enhancing collaboration among member countries, the institute aims to benefit all nations involved in the shift toward cleaner, more efficient energy sources.
