From 18 to 19 June 2020, the CAREC Institute and the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), in collaboration with Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography (XIEG) of Chinese Academy of Sciences delivered a virtual policy workshop – “Climate Change Regional Policy Dialogue: Learning from COVID-19 Pandemic” – for senior officials from ADB member countries who are leading climate change adaptation, mitigation and financing strategies, to exchange knowledge, best practices and lessons learned on pressing climate change issues at the regional level.
On 29 May 2020, the CAREC Institute, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and UNICEF co-hosted a webinar on the role of Multilateral Development Partners (MDP) in response to Covid-19 in CAREC with emphasis on water, sanitation, and hygiene.
On 28 May 2020, the CAREC Institute has delivered a policy workshop, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), ADB Institute, and Shanghai National Accounting Institute (SNAI), targeting senior CAREC government officials involved in e-commerce development in their respective countries.
The CAREC Institute has conducted an online road safety workshop, in collaboration with the CAREC Program and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), targeting government officials and road safety experts from Mongolia. The virtual workshop was organized around six sessions over the period of three weeks and the first session was held on 12 May 2020.

On 8 April 2020, the CAREC Institute, Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Institute (AFDI), Global Development Learning Network (GDLN), and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) co-hosted a webinar to share measures and experiences of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in fighting the Covid-19.
On 25 March 2020, the CAREC Institute and the Asian Development Bank Institute co-organized a videoconference on Unlocking Private Investment in Sustainable Infrastructure in Asia. The videoconference aimed at exchanging views and research findings on private investment potential and opportunities for the CAREC region.
Based on research evidence, CI believes that the key to economic diversification and growth is SME. SME has been a recurring theme of CI's programming. During the past two years, CI has conducted workshops on SME development and SME financing. The logical next step is to explore trade financing of SMEs engaged in trade in order to review the challenges in SME trade financing for increasing SME trading for the broader agenda of regional integration.
The CAREC Institute in support of and close collaboration with ADB and ADB Institute is organizing a two-day research conference from 29 to 30 November, 2018 at Nazarbayev University, Astana, the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Special Economic Zones is one of the force multipliers for economic growth. Shenzhen Miracle is one of the key lessons to be learnt for CAREC economies. The country-specific workshop, which CI held in Pakistan, was a huge success and CI intends to replicate it and disseminate the knowledge widely in the region.

The workshop aims to showcase the growth and experience of the People's Republic of China (PRC) in the renewable energy sector. Multiple cities in PRC have various best practices to demonstrate.
Tourism has emerged as a key sector in regional economic cooperation and is the driver of people to people contact. Many member countries have expressed their keen interest in learning about affirmative actions for promoting regional tourism as a key sector for economic diversification. CI is taking the lead in conducting this exploratory workshop on tourism promotion.
This workshop will be designed to dig deeper into River Basin Management and Flood control issues in the region, which is vulnerable to climate change and natural disaster. This workshop will also invite officials from East Asia for sharing intraregional experiences.
This workshop is part of the larger initiative of ADB's ERCI. CI will take care of the regional aspect of this initiative. ERCI is conducting a project on CB of member countries on data collection, collation, and presentation of national accounts. This workshop will be an experience-sharing of these in-country initiatives.
The workshop gathered experts from development partners to discuss the continuing improvement of the CAREC Corridors Performance Measurement and Monitoring (CPMM) and promote the broader use of CPMM data in CAREC countries.
