Ease of Doing Business: Taxation and Contract Enforcement in CAREC Region
CAREC Institute hosted a 3-day workshop for CAREC delegates in Urumqi, PRC, in cooperation with China State Administration of Taxation. This workshop focused on understanding taxation structures of all CAREC member countries in the backdrop of two indicators of ‘doing business’: a) paying taxes; b) enforcing contracts. Best practices on taxation treaties globally and regionally were discussed including impediments and challenges in developing bilateral and region-wide taxation treaties.
The workshop featured lectures by experts on the development of the BEPS project (Deloitte UK), on G20 tax reform and on the China tax system (International Taxation Department of SAT, PRC), and on tax treaty and contract enforcement (Dejure Law Chambers, Advocates & Legal Consultants of Pakistan). Country presentations increased the understanding of the taxation structures of all CAREC member countries.
A field visit was organised to the Tav Services Hall of the Shui Mo Gou District.
