CAREC Institute Chai Talk on Green Public Procurement

23 Apr - 27 Apr 2025

Public procurement serves as a crucial tool for governments to achieve development objectives, with an estimated global value of approximately US$11 trillion. In many developing countries, governments are the largest purchasers of various products and services, increasingly leveraging this power to fulfill economic, social, and environmental goals. Green Public Procurement (GPP) focuses on utilizing public sector purchasing to achieve environmental objectives by prioritizing goods, services, and works that minimize environmental impact. As trends such as digitalization and circular economy integration emerge, GPP is set to play an even greater role in promoting sustainable development across the CAREC region. Countries like the People’s Republic of China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan are already integrating sustainability into their procurement processes, yet challenges remain, including higher upfront costs and limited supplier capacity. The CAREC Institute Chai Talk, scheduled for 23 April, 2025, from 14:50 to 16:30 Beijing Time via Zoom,  will discuss these barriers while exploring the potential of GPP to foster a greener economy.

Join us for an engaging CAREC Institute Chai Talk where experts from the CAREC region and partner organizations will discuss the latest trends in Green Public Procurement. Participants will have the opportunity to share insights, experiences, and strategies for effective GPP implementation.
