Policy Dialogue and Country Consultation on Renewable Energy Investment Ecosystem in Central Asia
The CAREC Institute, in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT), will host a virtual Policy Dialogue and Country Consultation on Renewable Energy Investment Ecosystem on 22 January 2025, from 16:00 to 18:30 Beijing Time (GMT+8).
Central Asia faces significant challenges in financing its energy transition due to aging infrastructure and historic reliance on fossil fuels. Attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is crucial to meeting these needs. The “Renewable Energy Investment Ecosystem in Central Asia” study, implemented by the CAREC Institute and consultants, proposes a comprehensive framework that identifies key factors such as policy frameworks, market dynamics, financial mechanisms, and technology. Central Asia has much potential for solar, wind, and hydropower energy, but it doesn’t have the right system to support investments in these renewable energy sources. This study suggests creating a better investment climate, focusing on special policies, financial incentives, and better infrastructure to make Central Asia a key player in renewable energy.
This event will gather stakeholders, including policymakers, energy sector professionals, and investment promotion agencies to discuss key findings, policy implications, and opportunities for collaboration. Expert talks, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions will make an engaging and informative experience for all participants.
