CAREC Institute Participates in Dali Forum in Yunnan

On December 5, 2024, “the Belt and Road Initiative – Dali Forum” International Academic Conference was held in Dali, Yunnan Province, the People’s Republic of China. Co-organized by Dali University and Fudan University, the conference brought together over 100 experts and scholars from 11 countries to discuss international cooperation, regional economic development, and cross-regional connectivity under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

During the conference, Dr. Huang Jingjing, Deputy Director One of the CAREC Institute, presented the Institute’s ongoing research on regional economic development and connectivity within the CAREC region. She highlighted several key publications, including the Quarterly Economic Monitor, which offers insights into economic trends across the CAREC region, as well as studies on digital transformation and regional integration. Dr. Huang emphasized how these efforts contribute to sustainable economic growth and strengthen regional cooperation.

In her address, Dr. Huang stated, “Our research seeks to bridge gaps in regional economic cooperation and improve digital infrastructure, enabling more integrated, resilient, and sustainable economies in the CAREC region. We are committed to providing actionable insights that inform policy decisions and foster long-term growth for all member states.”

Throughout the conference, Dr. Huang also engaged in discussions with Mr. Suriyan Vichitlekarn, Executive Director of the Mekong Institute; former Pakistani Ambassador to China, Mr. Masood Khalid; and Professor Huang Renwei from Fudan University. Topics of focus included the role of multilateral institutions in regional economic development, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and the opportunities and challenges in multimodal transport development.
