A New Economic Brief “Trade Facilitation Progress in Central Asia: from a WTO TFA perspective”

The new economic brief, authored by Ms. Marina Wang, Senior Economic Specialist at the CAREC Institute, offers a preliminary perspective on the latest progress in implementing the World Trade Organization (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) among five Central Asian countries, including both WTO and non-WTO members.

This brief examines current challenges, such as supply chain disruptions and geoeconomic difficulties faced during the implementation of the TFA. It also identifies opportunities for enhancing cooperation among WTO and non-WTO members. Additionally, the brief highlights policy recommendations aimed at strengthening the implementation of the WTO TFA. It provides insights into navigating the complexities of the regional economic landscape, driving forward the vision of a more integrated and prosperous CAREC region.
