Symposium Report: Ecological Restoration and Integrated Management of the Aral Sea

This report covers summary of a symposium titled “Ecological Restoration and Management of the Aral Sea” held by the CAREC Institute and Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of Chinese Academy of Sciences (XIEG) in collaboration with the National University of Uzbekistan during 24-25 November 2020.

It covers discussions about the evolution of the Aral Sea; climate change and human activities; innovation technologies and green livelihoods under SDGs; and key effects of international cooperation in regional sustainable development. It also provides options how to leverage mutual efforts in science, technology, expertise, and best practices among the PRC, Uzbekistan, and other countries to facilitate innovation-driven regional cooperation on ecological restoration of the Aral Sea.
